The fact that either side would be so enraged that it resorts to this is a bad sign that we may be headed for political violence unprecedented this side of Reconstruction. And Orange County, N.C. (home to Chapel Hill) is a liberal county, so certainly there are plenty of people with motives who could have become radical.

 

Orange County is solidly GOP. 94% white and Asian

Not a particularly appealing or controversial right wing target nor really accessible by a left wing militant group.
