Someone needs to explain to me why you need an ID to cash a check or use your credit card but it's voter suppression to ask for an ID at a voting booth.

Because voting is a fundamental right and demanding a government-issued document in order to exercise a fundamental right is problematic.

But in practical terms, it will always be attached to places to obtain an ID mysteriously seeing closings and hours slashed in urban areas while rurals are untouched or expanded.
