I do think the EC needs some tweaking.

Washington Post and USA TODAY have the map broken out by counties. In the blue states there are a lot of red counties, much as the red states have blue counties. If you split the EV's based on popular vote or something along those lines, could make for a tight election. (As if this one weren't tight enough.)

It might also encourage candidates to spend money in so-called safe states. I was among those that wondered why Clinton and Trump would visit my home city on Monday. I didn't think Michigan would be in play. I was waaaaaaaay off.

If the Ds move any more to the center, they'll be Reaganites.

Just goes to show that SOMEONE knows how to do polls correctly. Unfortunately, those individuals work for the campaigns.

As far as I'm concerned, the time has passed for the EC, and it did a long time ago. Popular vote should rule.

At the same time, I'm hoping nobody is suggesting that the Electoral College cost HRC this election. She cost herself this election. A shitload of disenfranchised people in middle America cost her this election. The common man being looked down upon by college grads cost her this election. (You know, like they were called "deplorables," if I remember.)

Plus, of course, I'm sure if the roles had been reversed, the Republicans would be the ones screaming the Electoral College had to go. Because Trump could have lost the election the same way.

And yeah, there's some racism and anti-gayism going on with some of them. That's pretty clear. But I still think the fact that a significant section of the U.S. thinks they are currently fucked by government has more to do with it than anything.

Everyone who wants the Electoral College disbanded needs to close their eyes and think back to 2000, and imagine what kind of chaos and turmoil we would have gone through having 50 recounts instead of one.

Bill Clinton might still have been president on 9/11.

I have to say, as disappointed as I was with the result, even I had to admit his victory speech was gracious, and that he had some nice things to say about Obama this morning. But Trump didn't manage to remain "presidential" for very long. Sad!

He has a VP who put in one of the most anti gay state laws anywhere. He has talked about overturning gay marriage.

If he's the most pro gay R ever, that's a sad state for the Rs

Al Gore won the popular vote by more than 540,000 votes, 50,996,582 to 50,456,062. That's pretty clear-cut. No way any recount shifts even 1/10th of 540,000 votes, and even if it did then Gore wins by half a million.

But these anomalies never actually do work the other way. They work in precisely one direction.
