Yeah, who knew a golf thread would blow past the Dear Dimwit on the Phone thread any day now.

    You forgot:
    • planes not routinely crashing into each other and falling on our heads,
    • not (usually) drinking poisoned water or eating tainted food,
    • getting to listen to and watch hundreds of broadcast channels that aren't all trying to broadcast on the same frequencies, or airing porn for your children to happen upon while looking for cartoons.
    • blowing up in your shiny, new 2016 Chevy Corsair, which gets about two miles to the gallon and doesn't come with those pesky seatbelts.
    • Hmmm. You aren't black by chance, are you? Or Irish? Jewish?

I always find it funny how right-wing radio talk show hosts complain about big government regulation, when in reality, if it wasn't for big government regulation, some teenager could set up his own pirate radio station and block the hosts' shows.

Well, this election will be over in November, but dimwits never quit calling on the phone.

And the states could do every one of these things ... for less money and less loss of freedom.

The problem with federal "funding" is that every time those federal funds come with strings attached. And those strings always include a loss of power for the state and an increase in power for the big federal behemoth.

ITT: I am utterly unsurprised to learn that OT doesn't understand economies of scale.

Sure. And counties could do them all better than states.

And cities and townships could do it better than counties. And villages and neighborhoods could do it better than cities and townships. And city blocks can do it better than villages.
And then you're down to you and your drunk meth head neighbor next door. You boys gonna team up and build an interstate highway?
