I fully know what interstate means. And who do you think patrols those interstates? It certainly isn't "Federal Patrol" deputies. You morons act as if a road was never built before the interstate system. Got news for you: Freeways existed before the Interstate system. About the only thing the federal government does regarding the interstate system is assign the numbers and dole out money (but not nearly as much as it takes in) for the states to keep them up.

Don't discount the Pauly Shore vote. It holds a lot of sway among residents of biodomes.

Term limits are just a way to get rid of someone else's problems. If you've got a rep you like, why not let him/her keep doing their job? Otherwise, you've got a Congress full of folks with STD (short-timers disease, that is) trying to get their agenda passed in the time allotted and little to no vision of what the ramifications are beyond their time in office.

Just curious, Tony. In your mind, what were those early freeways like?

It's easy to spot the freeways built before the interstate system: they're the ones with the lanes too narrow, overpass clearance too low, and turn radii too tight to acommodate modern truck traffic at speeds over 45 mph.

The mean nasty evull federal guvvmint, led by that well-known pinko socilist thinker Dwight Eisenhower, imposed design standards on the interstate highway system in every state which would facilitate fast movement of military materiel if necessary, and commercial trucking in a not-entirely-unintended consequence. As well as passenger traffic.

... of course, that's NOW. Then, some weren't even paved the entire way. But I guess that's better than having our federal overlords controlling everything. [eyeroll]

I didn't so "no impact." I said "not crushing." If you have to move the goalposts, it's a sign you know you're wrong.
