NFL threatened to not award Atlanta a Super Bowl after state and city are financing a new stadium. Growing film and TV production business had many firms threaten to pull up stakes and depart. When it gets down to profit vs. prejudice, profit often wins.

LA Times poll has Trump 36, Cruz 35 in California, another has it Trump +11. Close enough that Cruz definitely has a shot there given Trump's frequent underperformance of his polling, and enough that he'll pull some congressional district delegates regardless. Last two polls of Wisconsin are Cruz +1, Cruz +5.

Wisconsin is one of the big swing states in Not Trump vs. Trump. Denying him that makes it almost a given that it's going to come down to California at worst for Not Trump. Indiana would be a big one too, but I'm not sure how feasible it is. But Trump winning Wisconsin basically puts it into "They need a miracle in California" territory.

Thank God we have the NFL to lead on gay rights issues.

Been thinking about this over the weekend ...

Paul Ryan, along with his peacemaking speech, announced plans to visit Israel. He has been out front of a LOT of stuff lately.

What's the possibility that they are getting ready to announce him as the Not Trump candidate? What he has been doing for the last month can certainly be seen as an attempt to look presidential. But if they wait until the convention to officially present him they might not have a chance, especially with the latest polling showing Trump well ahead in California.

Can they go to voters with that? Say "vote for anyone but Trump now and then we'll make Ryan the guy in July"?

And ohbytheway, Trump is campaigning in Ryan's hometown tomorrow.

California awards three delegates per congressional district, so I'm not sure how predictive any statewide poll is.

They won't declare Ryan the Brokered Nominee until the primaries are over at the earliest. They are hoping to use Ted Cruz and his voters right up until the last minute, and they can't do that if they make it obvious that's what they are doing.

This is why I think Trump still wins a brokered convention. You're going to get there and it'll be like 1150 for Trump, 1000 for Cruz, some for Kasich, etc. And Not Trump will be high-fiving right up to the second vote when it turns into the last scene from Reservoir Dogs and they all start shooting each other.

And at some point, they're going to have to actually have somebody get 1237 votes so they can go home, and it's going to be easier to convince 87 guys to switch their vote to Trump than it will be to get 1237 guys to switch their vote to Ryan.

If that's the plan, then you are right. They can't let Cruz's supporters know the plan.

It's incredible how few GOP elected officials have endorsed anyone.

If Cruz is the candidate of the #NeverTrump faction, it's not apparent, which means he isn't.

Disney was among those threatening to stop filming in Georgia if the bill had passed into law. I know there were others. It is certainly valid to question the motives behind at least some of the entities who made these threats, such as the NFL, but those are some corporate entities with serious clout.

But none of those delegates are bound to or necessarily have any interest in Trump after the first vote. They don't have to switch from Trump. They are unbound.
