Never mistake supporters for the candidate. Sanders is a veteran pol with decades of experience. He knows damn well what would happen to him if it is perceived he was somehow responsible for Clinton losing in November. He will support her and do so with a certain amount of gusto. Given that, all but the diehard leftier than thou types, a much more numerous bloc on the Internet than in real life, will fall in line.

You almost wonder if the fact Sanders is doing so well is costing him some "hipster appeal." Kind of like one of those indie bands that suddenly gets a big record deal and goes from playing cruddy venues to arenas.

I think the one major thing this election cycle has taught us is that people of all stripes, from all walks of life, are sick and tired of falling in line.

FWIW, one of the strongest correlations between how well Sanders has done in a state, and he's done damn well in a lot of them, is what percentage there voted for Nader in 2000.
Creosote, people fall in line because they want to influence the outcome. A small percentage of Sanders voters won't. But the vast majority will decide they can live with Clinton. A majority, I don't know how vast of the NeverTrump Republicans will vote for him in November, too.

Your reply to me was out of context.

My question about, "How dumb is Trump," was in regards to his criticism of the Iran deal for not including a provision that Iran buy planes from Boeing, rather than Airbus.

I'd like to hear a response to that.

One of the problems facing the U.S. negotiators was maintaining sanctions against Iran by all members of the international community. A unilateral embargo by the U.S. wouldn't be all that effective.

I think that there would have been almost zero chance of keeping France and other countries on board if removal of the sanctions would have been dependent on exclusive trade deals with the U.S.

Exactly. This is what the right has universally failed/refused to acknowledge during the discussion.

Sounds like a winning general election argument...

"We had to let France sell Iran the planes, otherwise they would have bailed on the deal, and just sold them the planes anyway."

It's a perfect example for Trump to show how we do shitty deals, that benefit everyone but us.

Granted, it's difficult to tell voters, "Life is more complicated than you'd like it to be."

    But that's a basic truth.

The conundrum is do you tell people what they want to hear and inevitably break the promises you make or fail to meet their expectations, or do you deal in truth.

Pandering, followed by disappointment, is one of the reasons why I think that the electorate is so outraged.

Yet folks still lap that stuff up like Lime Bud Lite on nickel beer night.

It's human nature. We all love shortcuts, and look for them wherever we can, not just in politics.

Geopolitics is hard. Even harder when you're not good at/don't care much about it.
