That's a great jumping off point for some questioning.

The fact that she says life begins at conception opens her up to some tough questioning.

Democrats face an adversarial press on all kinds of things.

Do you mean to say an adversarial press on the matter of abortion?

YF, here's a clue: There are not enough socially conservative people in the country, no less within the Democratic Party, to turn the election on this issue. It's a non starter. You guys can rally your base, but it's the same base you've always had minus the idiots who are splintering off for Trump. Democrats are perfectly comfortable with HRC on abortion.

Let's instead talk about cutting and privatizing social security or more tax breaks for the wealthy. I'm sure you can get tons of Democrats to split away on those issues.

There's a lot of people in the middle who think she really is for a late term abortion ban. Finding out her exceptions make the bans mean nothing is a big deal.

And, there's a constant effort to divide Republicans on the issue, and make them look like rubes or hypocrites.

Dems should face scrutiny on the issue, especially if they want to make hay on it.

Says you. Hell, says most of science.

But many people hold matters of life and death to a higher power that may have a different view on life and death.

It's worth noting that, If abortions were merely limited to these kids of cases, we may have a different conversation. But they're not - not even close. Most women have abortions more or less because they want to. They may have the most logical reasons to want to have an abortion - reasons our capitalist world upholds as wise - but nevertheless, they want to.

I appreciate how offensive that must seem. I don't take the position lightly. Again, I tend to trust the intents and hearts of those who support abortion rights. Theyre just wrong about it. Cosmically, right down to the core wrong.

Some of them are rubes and hypocrites on the issue.

Sophistication doesn't equal righteousness and neither does being cool. Democrats will always be cooler, especially with women. Who cares?

But how does that higher power view a person who doesn't want to bring in a life that was created from an act of violence? Especially when religions that are devoted to that higher power say that the act that is supposed to create life is supposed to be an act of love, and that even if it's an act of violence, the woman must continue to create the life, even if she feels punished by it.

Why do you think this is so clever?

Paul the Apostle was a murderer of early Christians before his conversion.

The Bible's pretty clear about the kinds of scenarios you describe - that extraordinary things often come from great suffering.

It's trite on a message board I understand. But Christianity's definition of love includes much more than common human love.

Because the rationale from the religious is that every zygote is sacred. Even the ones conceived from an act of violence.

    Um ... correct?

What sort of hay are they trying to make? It's a non-issue on the Democrat side until the Republicans force it to become an issue again. It's not even on most Democrats' radar.
