Maybe. Maybe they're right. Maybe he's right. I'm just explaining his appeal and why he's connecting with them. He's confirming, from a position of authority, what they intuitively believe to be true.

'92 might be what the GOP field ends up most closely matching (If Trump or Cruz don't win the nom. Clinton didn't win a primary/caucus until March. It was a crowded field. A lot of uncommitted delegates (2nd most popular choice Iowa).
'84 Hart was running against Mondale, who won Iowa and came in second in NH.

Anyone have the current odds on both parties? I assume Trump and Clinton are the favorites at this point? Democrat candidate is probably a small favorite in the general, I assume?

When you read stuff about Cruz going all the way back to high school, there are two constants:

    1) his inability to acquiesce to getting only 99 percent of what he wants
    2) his ability to piss off even those who are in lockstep agreement

That isn't a good combo if he needs the entire RNC operation behind him and the endorsements of his colleagues. He is like oop except he's in politics and he's smart.

Friends who work in Russell and Rayburn disagree. Their bosses will sit it out if Cruz is the nominee. Or, at the most, do the bare minimum to appease the RNC.

    I was surprised, too.

Bush looks like the best play on that list, right?
