It's weird that the money we're talking about is the exact amount from Romney's quote on the subject that was roundly mocked.

 

Correct. You didn't have a business loan. It was a personal loan.

If you don't pay it back, at worst, your parents may have hated you. At best, they write it off as one of their son's hairbrained ideas. In between, they say, "OK son, we'll carry you this month, but we'll expect you to continue next month."

A bank doesn't do that. You don't pay, they add fees and maybe boost the interest rate. Continue on, and you default on the loan and fuck up your credit for a lot of years.

Either way, you were lucky to have parents who 1. we're willing to loan their son money for his business and 2. had the money to loan it to you. Not everyone does.

I've often thought about asking Ragu that about the economy that's poised for a collapse . . . any day now. "What if the 'rules' and 'fundamentals' you base all this on just don't apply in 2016?
