You've never heard about the Flat Sum Tax, the ultimate wet dream of the absolutist tax libertarians: every single person in the nation pays the exact same tax amount, to the dollar. No exemptions, no deductions.

That's the stupidest damn idea I've ever heard of. You ever want to see 20% of a nation say "aw, fuck it, let's just riot, pillage and revolt," that'd do it.

I don't recall making any such assertion.

But hey, it would make taxes so much simpler!!

Those federal income tax numbers are cute, especially since they ignore the percentage of incomes each group brings in -- and particularly each group's relative income growth/decline over the last decade. But just about every analysis of the total tax picture finds that all groups pay the same share of taxes (around 17-20 percent IIRC).

Fair enough. What was the point of the data?

Yes, that is a dumb idea. Who is pushing that?

If look at percentage of wealth-to-tax burden, those numbers aren't out of whack.

I thought we were talking about taxes. Just disseminating some facts. Can never have too many of them.
