Oh, and the idea that parochial schools will not - as a group - find a way to treat transgender students with dignity is false. Just yesterday the Episcopal bishops of Virginia issued a statement that they have been working on plans for their dioceses, that will include schools, since last year to accommodate transgender members of their community.

Yeah, a lot of this should have been aired before now. No one took the guy seriously enough to dig. There were far easier stories to write off of each day's fresh Trump provocation, lie, or flip flop, so why bother?

We're in the six months dead period now. There will be campaign stories to write, but no real drama.

There will be more Trump stories than Clinton stories because people have been digging into her and writing stories for twenty five years now. Unless something fresh breaks it's all warmed over leftovers.

Given the rates of psychiatric co-morbidities in those experiencing* gender dysphoria, St. Alma's comments regarding contemporary society's obsession with sexual identity (uber alles) are well-taken. It is not at all unreasonable to think that we do at least some of these vulnerable young people a disservice in leaping to accommodate their stated desires.

*Honestly, I had a helluva time with the verb there.

Never Trump didn't even make it two weeks. This is going to turn out to be a much more generic election than anyone wants to admit. I'll save you all some time.

Clinton maintains her narrow lead in the polling average for the next month, with the occasional Republican-leaner putting Trump even or slightly ahead. When Sanders formally drops out, Clinton goes up to a 3-5 point lead in the averages. This goes back to 0-2 for two weeks after the Republican convention, then finally around October it settles in the 2-4 range. We spend the last month with Republican pundits talking about a Shy Tory effect and alternative turnout models to explain why the polls are wrong. Come election night, whichever of Pennsylvania or Florida is called first leaves Trump's only path to involve Ohio and the other of those two. We get another hour's worth of horserace entertainment before the other is called and it's over. The final vote will be something like 51-48.

Followed by Republicans vowing to hold Supreme Court nomination hearings circa 2021.

You're almost surely right, but it could veer up to Clinton 4-7 point win.

You're not factoring Herself's e-mail indictment and Der Trumpenfuhrer's dropping out rather than releasing his tax returns (and revealing himself to have a lesser net worth than smallpotatoes). I think the Ryan-Biden debate redux -- this time for the whole ball of wax -- is going to be fabulous.
