Quoting Obama, Trump said on Twitter last night, "In politics as in life, ignorance is not a virtue. This is a primary reason Obama has been the worst President in US history."
    Drifting to the middle, huh?

He's still bombastic and he's going to continue to be bombastic. But he's walked back his Muslim ban, for example, and floated the idea of raising taxes on the wealthy. Everything's a negotiation, he keeps telling us. He's moving to the center, visibly. He's not an ideologue at all. He just wants to be president. Everything has been strategic to that end, starting with his support of birtherism. He saw opposition to Obama as a means of getting his foot in the door.

Dick, I'll bet you $100 that if there is a President Trump, taxes on the wealthy will go way down, not up. Of course, in that event, marginal tax rates will be kind of a minor problem compared to all the others.

I don't care about that. I'm talking about Trump the candidate, not Trump the president.

He's a bloviating, immature jerkoff who's completely unfit to be president. No matter what he "walks back" or "negotiates" or "pivots toward."

OK, but even assuming for the sake of argument that your assessment is correct, that's not what I'm arguing here. I'm arguing that his "pivot" to the center, against an unlikeable, unimaginative Democratic opponent, may give him a real foothold with voters.

It'll give him a real foothold with morons and assholes. Of which there are way more than we thought.

    But little else.

Their votes count, though. And my question is: Can he win? In fact, is he the favorite, right now?

We've had a community organizer for the last two terms who is probably the most inept human being on Earth; 2) Democrats have a socialist who's done nothing his whole life and probably the most corrupt woman on the planet.

So a WWE Hall of Famer seems somewhat appropriate in this election cycle.

How can he pivot when every position he takes has a shelf life measured in days, sometimes hours? He *has* no positions, only trial balloons. He throws something out there, and if it offends or is dumber than hell, he walks it back and tries something else. He lies, and does so in completely mindless ways - he says things that are false on their faces, or immediately disprovable. If he's called on it he shrugs his shoulders and says "Well, what I really meant was..." when his lie was in simple words and short declarative sentences.

The guy will be a complete disaster in terms of diplomacy, because no one knows how long anything he says is good for, if it was true to start with, or if he ever meant what he said in the first place.

Seriously, what policy position has he put out there that is firm, something that he can be counted on to defend and work toward? The Wall? His tax plan? His stance on abortion? An unconstitutional ban on Moslems? The only thing I feel like he can be counted on doing is whatever is good for Trump.
