God I have HAD IT with these fucking smug know-it-all NBA writers. Every single one of them thinks they’re the smartest prick in the room and looks down on every other sport like they’re Neanderthals throwing flaming garbage at each other and grunting. And you can’t tell them anything. Try telling a Celtics writer Jayson Tatum is not a top 10 player in the league they will go all Ben Shapiro on you and SCHOOL you with FACTS while tweeting like they pretend to be a fan of 90’s rap music.

This is the icing on the cake. “Look at me, I’m so smartest, I’m the smartest smart in the room, how dare you tell me to Google Junior Seau, don’t you know who I am I cover the NBA and I’m the smartest!”

I am so done with these people.

I won't disagree with that. Utterly true, in my experience. Twenty-plus years.

I suppose if you're going to put that on Twitter, you probably should cut off the signature - or, at least, make sure the name can't be seen.

It feels awfully punitive for a person to lose his job when, by third email, he apologized. But, so it goes. It is an unforgiving business.

    Sheridan was fired for this.

The other thing I found odd about the exchange was the Trotter didn't know Sheridan isn't a young journalist.

Only thing I can figure is Sheridan was thinking Seau-Chargers-California athlete-liberal pot laws. And since Trotter was a Chargers beat guy once upon a time ,,,

Sometimes it's better if the original post includes pertinent info. Next time Imma hit up Trott in a tweet.

Super weird, all of it. From the NFL reporter trying to get RTs and Favorites on Twitter with the post to the guy behind it being Chris Sheridan, to his reply, to (apparently?) getting fired for it.

Agreed. There's got to be more to it.

Were Trotter and Sheridan in a relationship (gone sour) while at ESPN?

I would guess that between the battiness of the question and Chris Sheridan being a relatively common name, Jim Trotter honestly thought this was a kid and not a veteran sportswriter.
