TV's best seasons

Excellent call. I'm not sure they have ever topped "33," the first episode after the pilot/mini-series. There have been great individual episodes, such "Valley of Darkness" and both halves of "Exodus," but nothing has matched the consistent excellence of the first season. There was just such a sense that anything could happen, from the desperation of "33" to my favorite "holy shit" moment of the entire series -- Boomer gunning down Adama right on the command center of his ship after seeming to prove her loyalty by taking out a Cylon base ship.

Not sure I'd put it up with any of the first three seasons of "West Wing," but it was great television.

Season 2 of The Sopranos (with Richie Aprile & the death of Big Pussy)
The entire run of the British version of "The Office" (it was only 12 episodes and 2 specials over 2 seasons)
Season 1 of "Twin Peaks"

 

Sopranos- Season 2 (Big Pussy's Demise) and 3
Gilmore Girls, Season 1 and 2
Friends- season 7 (Chandler and Monica's Wedding) and 8 (Rachel gives birth)
ER- seasons 1 and 2 (the original cast...nothing better than the real thing :)
NYPD Blue-season 1 (David Caruso, need I say anymore )
Seinfeld -season 4 (but I can't remember which season had the regifting episode...that defined a lot)
CSI Miami-season 1
Beverly Hills 90210 seasons 1 and 2 (again, nothing better than the original cast)
first and last season of Sex in the City (I love BIG ;D)
OC- seasons 1 and 2
Law and Order- the Noth and Oerbach years
For Everybody Loves Raymond, and Three's Company, all episodes were great that I can't pick one season.

Oh, and 24 season two.

 

The first nine seasons of "The Simpsons"....but if I had to pick one, I would go with the fifth. The first season of "Friends" was quite good too.

 

Oh, and the second and third seasons of the X-Files were excellent.

 

Dawson's Creek season 1? Anyone?

First few seasons of Homicide.
Gilmore Girls up until Rory goes to school.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer first five season, until Buff takes a dirt nap.
Cosby Show until the kisd grew up.
West Wing until Sorkin left
Sportsnight both seasons

 

Rockford Files, seasons five and six (the David Chase years).

 

Agree with whoever said Season 1 of Weeds...tremendous show.
