    Gannett has laid off 20,000 people in the last seven years or so. Quite a few of them were accountable and won awards.

    Gannett didn't care.

    Gannett: 80 percent fuck-up-ery, 20 percent "yeah, that change was probably due."

    Well, when my week began 9:30 Tuesday morning with my publisher asking me to fix another one of our Sports Editor's mistakes, then 3 more instances happen during the week, anything else, even Gannett starts sounding pretty good.

    Just wanted to give an update. We identified our two finalists after going through many resumes and clips. If any hiring editor needs a few names, there are plenty of good journalists out there. Wish we could hire a few more.
