If you can fault anything Tiger did over the weekend, it was yesterday's round. There was a 65 or 66 there for him and he didn't get it. I thought his clutch putting was better today. He gave himself a chance on the final holes. The bunker blast on 17 was a bad break.

Meanwhile I think he's going to win his third consecutive British, another poster on here said he'll probably win more British Opens then Masters and it's quite possible.

  2. Because if golf analysts don't mention him every eight seconds, their heads explode.

Who is the last US Open champion who didn't speak English??

    This is brutal.

nafselon - great point on yesterday's round.

I could for sure see him ending with more Britishes than Masters. He's so good at 'target shooting' and minimizing mistakes (and recovering from hole-to-hole, mentally, when he does make a mistake) that the British is perfect for him.

Personally, I am much more eager to know what is going to go down with the BALCO stuff (been doing some research on it today), but you gotta watch Tiger or you're not relevant. :)

Yes, damn those colonies learning our games and not our language!

I think he meant the interview (which I didn't hear).

I know what he meant, but criticizing someone for not speaking English when it's not their native tongue comes off as a little off.

They did what they could, getting an ESPN Deportes reporter to translate. It wasn't perfect, but it's a silly quibble.

Rokski - The British Open isn't exactly target shooting; at least not in the sense that most PGA tournament layouts are thought of as "target golf." The British requires run-up type shots, Texas Wedges, and the ability to play through wind.
I think what makes Tiger so good at British Open golf is that "stinger" shot he plays that just bores through the wind.

My favorite moment was when it was a five-way tie for the lead early in the round, Tiger's name was first on NBC's leaderboard.

    Lupica started that today.

I agree with the announcing bashing. After Furyk finished, someone - I think Hicks - said something to the effect that another U.S. Open opportunity for Furyk went down in flames on the 72nd hole. Uh, no, I think it was the bogey on the 71st there, big guy.

Well, John Daly is fluent in all of the romance languages.

My wife watched a few holes with me, and she said she wished the announcers would STFU. I hadn't said a word about how terrible they were. But they did bite. On the first hole I watched, the called a drive headed for the rough only to step back and say that it was in the center of the fairway.
