Ahh, the love. It still flows through.

Let's all sing around the college kid being electrocuted. Wonderful.

Those that are growing up and want to express their opinions and thoughts are sought out and allowed to express them. Let that free speech ring!

Well, here's one of the media reactions to this little douche:

The radio station I was listening to this morning kept replaying him saying "Don't taze me, bro!" and then listening to his howls and laughing at what a douche he was and how he deserved it.

They even suggested coming out with joke T-shirts with "Don't taze me, bro!" on the front.

Irony here is that as a douchebag you are advocating that other douchebags be tasered simply for being a douchebag.

I hope you don’t run into an UF cops in the coming days.

Here's a snarky blog report from Meyer's hometown area.

The guy who writes it is always fun to read:

Andrew Meyer -- the guy who was tasered at the John Kerry event in Gainesville -- gives hope to Weston. Who knew such political passion could come from anyone raised in that wealthy, separatist, plastic place? I'm not saying Meyer is a hero. He was a little too spastic to be given hero status, and he should have peacefully succumbed to the police after a few bouts of theatrics. And he was definitely trying to make the news (his website indicates to me this was an Andrew Meyer publicity stunt). The cops, though, just illustrated for us all how poorly trained and idiotic our police can be. They locked into their power trip mentality and escalated the situation. And there's just no excuse for the zapping, none at all.

No hero in this incident, but there is a goat: John Kerry. As if we needed any more proof he was never presidential material, the buffoon just sat there and let the police go after Meyer. A real leader -- especially a Democratic one who has done his own share of protests and supposedly cares about freedom of speech -- would have called off the police and had a dialogue with Meyer. But Kerry is an effete prick who sat there like a dumb animal watching his talk turn into an ugly training seminar on how not to handle civil disobedience.

The question Kerry was answering when Meyer was zapped regarded why he didn't challenge the Ohio vote after the presidential election. Which leads me to the point: America got it right in 2004. In its wisdom, it put George W. Bush back in office to reap what he'd sewn and lay in the bed he'd made and (add your favorite cliche here). The people refused to vote into office a guy like Kerry, who was totally out of touch not only with the country, but himself. Unfortunately the world is having to suffer another four years of an incompetent war criminal leading the free world because of it. So goes it.

I'm guessing that if old_tony runs into a UF campus cop anytime soon, they're more likely to share coffee and a donut than for him to be tasered.

Kid shouldn't have been tasered. He was acting like an ass and resisting; I have no problem with him being escorted out, and it's too bad he forced extra effort for them to do that. Tasering was unnecessary, and the cops should and will be reprimanded, I'm guessing. They won't do it again in similar circumstances. If they do, nail 'em.

Like the Red Sox/Duncan lame joke thread, a tempest in a teapot. Cops have special responsibilities and are exposed as a result. To harm as well as to potential gaffs and extortion. This just needs to be nipped in the bud.

Why make it about John Kerry? He's a bystander.

[Of course John Kerry's presence and (limited) involvement is what makes it news. I'm referring to the discussion on this board in my comment above.]

Move to one of Florida's gigantic retirement communities and you'll see more politicians than you ever dreamed.

I have to believe that if John Kerry had stood up and said very sternly to the cops, on the microphone: "Please stop ... that's no necessary," they might have dealt with it a bit calmer.

I agree with this. Kerry should have stated something. It was extremely poor on his part to not intercede.

In the AP story, it says he did.

He didn't intercede. He stood by and watched, then tried to save face while the guy was getting Tasered.
