    That's true, also, Idaho.

Although, if the kid wanted a scene, the cops sure gave him what he wanted...

He would have made his scene, as he wanted, with or without the police involvement. The fact police ended up magnifying his theatrics -- and make no mistake about it, he was theatric, not just impassioned -- played into his hand. But aside from sitting back and allowing him to hijack an auditorium full of students and shout down a senator, what should the cops have done? He was, after all, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.

Nothing wrong with just shoving him up the aisle until he's out the door.

Ii think four cops coulda handled that.

I remember a story a few months ago in which cops Tasered a 12-year-old girl at school when she was acting out a little. I think she was 12, somewhere around there.

Once you start Tasering students who aren't clubbing someone, the shit's gonna hit the fan.

You are right about that one, playthrough. I live in the Ft. Myers/Naples area, and they do come through there... I guess what I was getting at is when you go to a campus, you are putting yourself in an entirely different environment than a country club clubhouse. As a political speaker in a 'forum' setting there should be opportunity for conversation as you and I both know politicians rarely answer a question the first time they are asked it. Colleges preach to students exchanging ideas and going against the grain offers the means to learn. you find out a lot about a person when situations take an unexpected turn. I like that Kerry chose to try and answer the question - even if it was just an attempt to try and difuse or distract from the situation clearly taking place, but I do not like that when authorities didn't like the direction of his tone and manner they responded so abruptly.

Unless the age of responsibility is never, this kid is responsible for what happened. The cops, John Kerry, any fault with them lies in the details. He didn't mean for it to be about them, he wanted it to be about himself. And it was.

So he deserves to be tasered?

Again... he deserves to be tasered?

Sorry, but that is just a load of shit. I don't buy for a minute that a multitude of cops couldn't have just taken the disturbance outside. Once they had the guy on the ground, why proceed to taser him?

What the hell is wrong with people that invokes the reaction of "Yeah, that guy was raising his voice about his outlandish political view. He deserves a good tasering by a bunch of cops."

He deserved to be tasered. If you accept the premise that it was proper for the police to arrest him, then he deserved to be tasered because he would not allow himself to be handcuffed.

What did he do that deserved to be arrested?

If he was causing a nuisance they can escort him out.

Escort? Like you escort your date out of the dance hall? He obviously didn't want to go that easily. Let's face it, this guy would have failed himself (and his videotaping colleague) if he wasn't tasered or otherwise handled in an over-the-top way. No one yelling at a politician as he is "escorted" out of a room gets this much attention.

I just saw the news update on CNN... Apparently the kid was wearing a FSU shirt...

    Suddenly it all makes sense...

Why does it matter that someone was filming? The end result is bullish, over-the-top police action that doesn't come remotely close to suiting the situation.

Police electrocuting someone with a taser could be suitable if the guy, say, had a weapon or he was whacked out on HGH/steroids. This was just some college kid.

The kid could have been taken out of the auditorium much easier and without incident than this.
