Tasering linecutters--now there's an idea I can support! Can we extend this rule beyond Six Flags to stadiums around the country?

I am positive the lines for the women's bathrooms would move faster if tasers were involved.

Pastor, it appears you either need reading lessons or are dishonestly intent on misrepresenting other people's posts. Not once did I ever say he deserved to be tasered or that doing so was justified. In fact, I've explicitly clarified throughout that it was NOT. I was merely responding to your post asking what evidence existed that this kid was a "jerk". I suggest you re-read, or perhaps learn to read.

The argument about the tasered's character is irrelevant. He was disruptive and he probably is an attention whore. But does that mean he deserves to be attacked like that? No.

The campus rent-a-cops were way, way out of their bounds to taser the guy. Just tackle him and haul him off. Anyone who supports the cops' actions in this grotesque incident is a facist, pure and simple. We're seeing the rise of a police state in this country, with peaceful protestors dodging pepper spray and tear gas and I'm definitely not a fan of it.

A question for the masses: is there anything fascistic about being quick to label others fascists in an attempt to sway opinion?

Or, alternately, is the term overused?

Actually, I've never seen that term used before in my life.

Fixed. (I knew that didn't feel right.)

Does this make PoO a spelling fascist? :D

Why are we ignoring the fact that he DID get tasered because he was flailing away even while on the ground?

Because the template position for those who are crying about him getting tasered is that the cops are always wrong.

These are probably the same people who would never spank their child or even yell at him/her, either, opting instead to have "timeouts" and such while the kids spend their entire childhood walking over mom and dad.

Well, on the one hand, there were six cops.

On the other hand, I haven't read anywhere what the regs were for these cops in this particular situation. My take, the guy could have been subdued and removed without being tased. But, if they were following standard procedure, then the procedure needs to be looked at, not the cops.

And finally, if you start with the premise that cops are fascists and students are immune from the need to act responsibly, then you are going to ignore any amount of flailing away.

I may have missed it, because there's a lot going on on this thread, so sorry if I did. But I'll restate my question: is a little zap from a taser less likely to cause bodily damage to a guy than trying to wrestle him into handcuffs? I could see where that could lead to a disloacated something or other and a lawsuit. Is it possible they were trying to use what they thought was the safer method?
I'm not in law enforcement, and have never been, so I ask this hoping for an honest answer. I really don't know. If someone does know, great. The only thing I'll add is, please don't guess, because that doesn't help me understand anything.
    Thanks!

Let's not put words in our mouths, Tony. I don't recall anyone here saying cops are always wrong.
