They are. But the world demand for wheat is super high, and Ukraine-Russia are way closer to the Middle East and North Africa than is North Dakota.

Russia and Ukraine are huge producers. Anything that drops their production significantly is going to be reflected in the market.

If the nukes start to fly, does Putin hit a Chicago here and a Denver there, or does he go for the gusto all at once?

Also an indication the original propaganda was not having its desired effect on Russia's population.

Saw diesel posted at greater than $5/gallon yesterday, and we aren’t exactly a tax-happy state. I don’t care if you have ridden the subway every day of your life, you are going to feel that in the form of inflation for goods that go by truck (hint: everything) and fast.

    Of course.

Again, these are Putin's sanctions against us.

I'm old enough to have lived through the Gas Shortage of the early 70s and a number of other subsequent gas price spikes (I remember filling up in 2008 at over $4 a gallon). In each case, the spike subsided as people gradually just used less gas. The petroleum industry strives for the maximum price of its core product that doesn't provoke less of its use.
