Judging by how many of them are in jail, how many of them have been given slaps on the wrist or less, and how many of their political overlords are in shackles, I have to think the DoJ agrees with me as well, amirite?

I've been wondering lately about former President Barack Obama's thoughts on, well, a lot of things, particularly Ukraine.

Here they are, in The Atlantic. It's a good, lengthy interview -- nothing too earth-shaking, and I think I might've been a little more direct and specific about Ukraine, so I was actually a little disappointed in that respect. But it always was, and is, good to hear from an intelligent, always-thoughtful, always-articulate politician who I was sure had some things to share about recent goings-on.

One thing about Obama is he’s always an optimist. He always hopes for and sees the best in people. I imagine at least some of that has to do with people who helped him overcome the challenges he has (namely black guy being elected POTUS). I do wish he’d be a little less naive, but it’s probably too late for him to change.

Terrorism has been used for ages, usually by the side with the greatest odds but notable exceptions (plague-infected bodies over fortified walls, I'm looking in your direction). But as a measure of your military objectives being met, even Hitler tried bombing civilians and he lost that war.

If my job was to stand up in public and shill for this war, I'd need something to take the edge off, too.

Some good stuff and some kind of unsettling stuff on CNN right now.

Haven't seen or heard much of any news all day today, and so turned CNN on, trying to catch up.

Just watched a segment of an 11-year-old singing the Ukrainian national anthem before the N.Y. Yankees' season opener.

Before that was some coverage of thousands of American troops participating in live-weapon military exercises alongside of Polish troops in Poland. Commentary was that there were about 11,000 troops there in Poland (I missed whether that number was American/Polish military combined, or just U.S. troops), and that they were preparing themselves in case they were needed on behalf of NATO allies.

Once again, I couldn't help but find it a little difficult -- even distasteful -- to think that the troops were there and, in the words of a commanding officer, ready to do whatever might be needed, a mere two hours away from Ukraine, where they actually are needed, now. If that's my reaction, I can only imagine what Ukrainians must think and feel about it.
