    Just looking at a map, I don't know that Mariupol falling to Russia — which is probably inevitable absent a flanking move by the Ukrainians from outside — is going to be much of a gamechanger. It's almost baked into the cake at this point.

    The Russians still have to hold Mariupol with a finite number of troops, as well as hold a "land bridge" with Crimea. And they won't be going after Odessa anytime soon to cut the country off from the sea.
