I think what we consistently underestimate about the Russians is their willingness to just throw bodies en masse at every situation. Then again, reading some of the reports this week, they haven't even managed that.

Yeah, if he is not the TIME magazine person of the year, and everyone else's person of the year, for that matter, I don't know who is.

I wish he were President of the U.S.

Western aid eventually turned the tide, but it wouldn’t have come pouring in if the Ukrainians didn’t prove to be the badasses of the millennium back when it was just them and a few thoughts and prayers rattling around the bottom of the can.

I expected it might go something like the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, where they took over the land and the capitol quickly and then spent the next decade wishing they hadn’t. I never dreamed it would play out like this.

I am glad the Russian invasion of Ukraine has returned to the news after Ukraine's recent advancements and successes. The Ukrainians' plight had fallen out of the spotlight for a while, when it never should have done so.

Body-cam footage from a formerly captive Ukrainian medic in besieged Mariupol shows why.

The story is a good read, but make sure you click on the link to the body-cam footage, and scroll to see it all. Interesting perspectives/shots, and it brings home the reality of actually being in a war, instead of being fortunate enough to just watch from afar and discuss it.

The West and in particular, the UK has been training and supplying Ukraine since Crimea was annexed by Russia in 2014. From what I've read, the Ukrainian army at that time was shit, and if Russia had tried to invade then, nothing would've stopped them. But given time to train and the proxy war being fought in the Donbas, gave Ukraine time to get their stuff in gear.

Agree on Zelensky. If he had been flown out of Kyiv in the early days as the French suggested, that would've been a big blow to morale. I wish our actors turned elected leaders had half his courage.

In all honesty, if Reagan had been in that situation, he'd have done the same thing. Actors have to be optimists given the odds in their profession.
