The T-62 was introduced in 1961. Once upon a time it was the Soviets’ main battle tank, but these days it’s just Russian reserve equipment.

They deployed the T-62s back in May. It wasn't clear then what their role would be, but because they're so obsolete it was assumed they were either being used for occupation duty or as cannon fodder to get the Ukrainians to use up some javelins on shitty tanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Putin decides to focus his energies elsewhere soon- he's got a lot to choose from. I'm guessing China and India backing away recently - not to mention the steady drumbeat of oligarchs falling out of windows - is a sign that things aren't going great in Ukraine.
