    And there we are.
Putin orders partial Russian mobilisation, warns West over nuclear blackmail
Russia's defense minister says 300k soldiers will be called up, those who A) have served, B) have military specialist skills, and C) have combat experience. He also says "conscripts will continue to serve on the territory of the Russian Federation", which presumably will include the lands about to vote on becoming part of the Russian Federation.

Given some of the math on display during Shoigu's interview, though, maybe that 300k figure shouldn't be taken at face value.

Putin's losing. Calling up reservists as his "little adventure" stagnates is a pretty big move. I've heard they've been recruiting hard in the out of the way spots in Russia to make the population centers seem like it's going swimingly. He would have been better off if he just threatened to nuke Ukraine joined NATO at the start.
Putin escalates Ukraine war, issues nuclear threat to West

Though if his nukes are as effective as his military we have nothing to worry about.

The problem is that, unlike his fleet of trucks with dry-rotted tires and 60-year-old tanks, he only needs one that works.

We have what appear to be original documents backing up talk of general mobilization and closing the borders to men of fighting age. My Cyrillic reading ability is nonexistent, though, so caveat emptor.

Also, there are reports of men arrested at protests being sent to enlistment offices. Google Translate says the following: "Detainees in at least three Moscow police departments were handed summons to the military registration and enlistment office". Same caveats apply.

Putin is a madman. He needs to be deposed, captured or killed.

Oddly enough -- or maybe not -- his double-speak/double-think ways remind me of Trump.

As in, "Parts of Ukraine are actually Russia. Because I say they are."

Conscripts may be back home, having finished serving. "But, nope, sorry, you're not done."

Citing/complaining about issues/problems that he himself caused but is so deep into his own lies and, well, fake news, that he doesn't even realize it.

    Etc.

In weird potential plot twist - Putin bails on Russia, accepts deal from US DOJ to testify against Trump, confirms pee tape (and provides a copy), then accepts witness relocation deal and end up living on a ranch in Montana.
