US sanctions don’t mean much if Russia gives Iran everything it needs.

Iran has all the oil and gas it needs. What it needs, Russia ain't got.

Iran is now the world's largest buyer of Russian wheat.

English guys too. There was a stink about RAF vets doing the same thing recently.

It's the Saudi way. Just pile up money until they say yes and buy the expertise.

At least the Saudis are a nominal Western ally. I don't think there's any question that the Chinese are anything but a potential adversary.

In other news, this was officially a visit to a nuclear submarine by some very high-level brass. Unofficially, it seems to be a show of force and maybe sheer stupidity to give away the location of one of our nuclear missile subs.

The story includes two pictures from inside the West Virginia. Can you imagine what kind of absolute god damn clusterfuck it musta been to get someone to review those photos and say, "OK - nothing classified; you can release this one to media."

Inky_Wretch, wicked and Batman like this.

Wasn't there a sailor a few years ago who went to prison for taking photos inside a sub?

My cousin was a Missile Technician on Trident subs for 30 years. As far as I know, in all the patrols he made, he only ever surfaced and pulled into a port other than home port once, and that was at another major US Navy base because of an emergency.
I was in the surface fleet for four years and saw 100X more places.

My neighbor down the street just got a call from the Navy this year politely reminding him that the nuclear submarine guidance systems he worked on during the Vietnam War are still classified as sensitive information.
