This is correct. I fly a heading based on winds and, to a much lesser degree, magnetic variation. I fly a course to get me where I need to go.

While the KA-52 is a formidable attack aircraft, I'd hesitate to compare it with an Apache. They share some similarities in armament and flight characteristics, but the Alligator is more akin to an older version of the Cobra. It's avionics are rudimentary at best, while the Apache as an incredibly impressive suite of systems that allow it to communicate with a multitude of other systems. A 64 team can control UAVs to recon targets, It can even shoot a payload of small UAVs (Air Launched Effects, look it up, it's scary cool) to accomplish a variety of missions. The 64D (a 25-year old version, at that) can gather data on targets while unmasked, then mask itself and distribute that target information to an entire team and prosecute them simultaneously using its Fire Control Radar, or Longbow, system.

I figured the Apaches were way better in the way of capabilities. It's what we do.
Should have clarified to say I meant the KA-52 is the Russian equivalent in terms of its role as its top-end attack helicopter.
