There. We agree 100 percent on this one, pallister.

As an aside, sometimes I think there's an ongoing and cynically calculated effort by certain media groups that cater to the lower and middle class (Hi Rupert!) to focus on racial and cultural divisions as a way to distract people from the real issue of growing class division.

If anything this story will help Obama's campaign.

Jackson's an asshole racist and I think most of the country is well aware of that. Sounds like Junior is more tolerable.

    Guess again.
An Obama Presidency makes Jesse and Al irrelevant.

Obama gets it - he realizes this country doesn't care if the President is black, white, red, yellow, male, female, etc.
We want someone who will do the job.

Also, this from a wire story...

O'Reilly told viewers that the network had decided to air only portions of what Jackson had said, saying there was "more damaging" material.

I'd bet my life savings he dropped the n word.

I doubt very much that O'Reilly has anything more "damaging." If they had it, they would use it.

Damn, there goes O'Reilly holding back on us again.

  8. I've read rumblings that Obama would maybe, possibly consider a class-based, instead of race-based affirmative action/quota system. In other words, you get preferential treament based on your income bracket. He has mentioned the fact that his daughters would get preferential treament in college admissions, even though they come from well off parents, and how that was wrong.

I remember reading that and thinking that if Obama did introduce that idea, he'd win a Reagan-esque landslide. I don't know if he'll ever do it, but, for obvious reasons, he'd be one of the few politicians with the ability to push something like that through.
