Unassisted Triple Play by Tulowitzki

Lost in the shuffle is the fact Tulowitski was freaking EVERYWHERE in this Braves-Rockies series. I watched all three games, and the kid made at least two jaw-dropping defensive plays in each game.

And the bat has finally started to come around, too.

This thread will go down in history for indiansnetwork proving what a moron he is.
Over and over and over and over.
Instead of saying, yeah, you guys are right, the shovel kept going deeper and deeper.

While he's doing a terrible job making any point whatsoever, I don't entirely disagree with what indiansnetwork is saying, that this TP in particular wasn't so much a spectacular play as it was a spectacular set of circumstances.

What I think he was trying to say is that we'll see 25 better outs this week. Better dives. Better throws. More awe-inspiring catches. There wasn't anything particular jaw-dropping about any one thing the kid did, he just sort of stumbled into history on what would appear to be a regular play if the sound and scoreboard was turned off.

Obviously it was cool, it was unique and special, but as an individual play, I would have blown right past it without a prompt from Sportscenter.

Now what I want to see is an unassisted TP that starts with that David Wright one-hand catch from a few years ago and features two separate tag outs. Now THAT would be a play.

    24 outs.

If that WERE the case he were making, of course, people would agree, to a large extent.

But if you read back, he's blaming the Atlanta runners, etc.

What markvid was saying was that through trying to back up an off-the-cuff opinion, the guy showed himself to be stupider than everyone thought he was.

And that's fairly hard to do...

Any unassisted triple play is a matter of extreme circumstance. It rarely is a spectacular play.
It is a rarity -- much rarer than a no-hitter -- but mostly a matter of blind luck.

As for indiansnetwork "proving" he is a moron? How about reaffirming for the millionth time.

I thought he proved that long ago. I doubt he needed this thread to prove it.

Spnited or Casty might know this as they know New York City baseball.
Wasn't there a guy for the Mets who hit into a triple play and a double play in his only two MLB at-bats?

Now that would suck. Two at bats created five outs?

Odds are his third at-bat would have resulted in merely one out.

Hell, if he'd had four chances, he might have reached base!

Well, you've piqued my interest now. Somebody needs to answer this, or I'll be up all night. How long ago are we talking? I know a girl who dated a former Met, and she said he refused to talk about his baseball days. Maybe it's him.
