-- You know what cheers me up when I'm feeling shitty?
    -- What?
-- Rolled up aces over kings.
    -- Is that right?
-- Yeah. Check-raising stupid fucking tourists and taking huge pots off of them.
    -- Yeah?
-- Stacks and towers of checks I can't even see over. Playing all-night, high-limit Hold'em at the Taj, "where the sand turns to gold."
    -- Fuck it, let's go.
    -- Don't tease me.
-- Let's play some fuckin' cards.

In my earlier post, I forgot:

    Career Opportunities... Jennifer Connelly.

    Wow

That's Career Opportunities, starring Jennifer Connelly's breasts.

I'd hardly point to box office numbers as proof others also thought it was a referendum on Iraq. I'm curious to hear if others who have seen the movie thought the same thing.

I just never saw it that way, particularly because it presents both sides as having a legitimate claim to the home. I don't think Connelly is shown in any worse light than Kingsley's family, which is what made it so interesting to me. How do you come to a fair and legitimate settlement when both sides are right in some respects?

Can't say I remember HOSAF in too much detail, but as I remember it the Iranian family might have been any minority. I thought it was about cultural differences, not the war.

Plus the book it was based on was published in 1999.

Since I just agreed to Hoosiers on the overrated list, I'll add a couple Gene Hackman flicks to this one:
    Crimson Tide
    Runaway Jury
    Enemy of the State

"Enemy of the State" ... good one.

NEVER seems to show up on anyone's list -- hell, even I forgot about it last night when I posted, and it's one of my all-time favorite movies.

With a few mentions of John Cusack so far, I humbly submit:
