Great, great call. I loved this movie and don't know many people who have seen it. Absolutely gut-wrenching at the end.

    Didn't do anything for me.

    Good call.

  3. Oh, one more that I think constantly gets overlooked that really enjoyed...Mr. Destiny.

This is off-topic,but it's an even better book, by a fine writer, Richard Russo.

  5. And a very young Philip Seymour Hoffman. And Philip Bosco as the judge:
"You know my views on arming morons. If you arm one of them, you have to arm them all, otherwise it's no fun."

"The Family Man." Some of Nicolas Cage's best work and a great job by Tea Leoni. Also some early on Cheadle.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Maybe not here because many of us have read the book, but too many people think it's just a drug movie. Depp and Del Toro are incredible in it as well.

How about Leaving Las Vegas? Maybe "underappreciated" isn't the right word considering Cage won a best actor Oscar, but the plot is so dark -- man drinks himself to death! wheee! -- it probably doesn't make many lists of greatness. But I've watched it a dozen times and still really like it.

Catch Me If You Can is super breezy and fun. The noir-ish opening titles are worthy of an essay alone.
