Unfairly maligned TV shows and movies

My wife loves Pivate Pactice and Grey's, both of which I think are manipulative dreck.

Any patience I had for Grey's was lost with the season ender with the gunman. IIRC I bitched about it on a tv thread on here and someone responded that Sepinwall liked it so that somehow made it okay.

These shows don't get maligned enough. I am fully ready and willing to jump into willing suspension of disbelief to be entertained but enough with the god awful story lines.

Cougartown is great but I never know when it is on.

 

Jon Benjamin Has A Van was funny. I'm the only one who watched it, but I stand by the show.

 

South Park

Not many people realize this show is about a lot more than farts and swearing.

Some people need to settle down a bit. Really. If you like 'Friends' or 'The Simpsons,' another person is not calling you uncool.

Your uncoolness is a characteristic completely independent from your bad taste in television shows.

 

Is that the Jon Benjamin who voices "Archer"? If so, I may have to search for that.

That's good. South Park is mostly social commentary disguised as crude figures acting crudely.

 

Scandal isn't quality tv, but it is quality trash tv. The last few episodes have gone beyond the beyond...finger sucking, a family (and their dog) slaughtered, a sitting president threatening a justice with terminal cancer...just great stuff.

Seriously, for a show of its type, it's amazing how many of the actors went on to have at least decent careers.

I would guess the percentage of teens on TV shows (especially in syndication) who are still showing up on TV or in movies is pretty low.
