My issue with Scandal isn't so much where it is now, but where I know it will be a year from now. My wife watches it, so it's on in the house when I'm goofing around and surfing SJ, and I catch most of it. You're right. It's entertaining trashy TV, I suppose. The problem with it, and Rhimes shows in general, is that there's nowhere to go from the absurd swings the show takes on a regular basis to keep giving you a trashy fix. Grey's Anatomy actually was a decent show in its first season. Soapy and melodramatic, sure sure, but the characters frequently resembled actual human beings. But Rhimes can't do subtle. EVERY patient needed to have some case that spoke directly to the presenting doctor's neurosis, and every arc after the one where Coach Taylor blew up a bomb in the hallway had to be building to something BIGGER than a goddamn bomb going off in the hospital.

Scandal will get there too. And I get shotty's suspension of disbelief argument, I suppose. But the astounding tone deaf narcissism of Rhimes' characters becomes so grating after awhile, I just can't give a shit when one of them might die after:

    -falling of a pier
-getting shot by a crazed gunman
    -getting hit by a bus
-getting in a massive head on lesbian car crash
-they're pierced by a falling icicle
-they have sex with a ghost and contract cancer/AIDS
-getting their LVAT wire cut by their lover/surgeon
-performing secret surgery in the basement as a part of Intern Fight Club

These issues will befall Olivia Pope and crew eventually. You can only raise the ante so many times before it becomes fucking ridiculous.

Way to spoil the entire show. Now I'll never watch.

FWIW, I can see the inherent problems a little clearer after reading that. Still a fan, but I can see where it could go that way.

And the crazed gunman? She's already in place.

I thought of this thread this weekend when I found out that a friend is going to have a guest appearance on Grey's sometime this season. I haven't seen an episode in many years, but I'll have to tune in for that one.

Was surprised to see a guest shot on Grey's last week from Neve Campbell. I'd absolutely forgotten about her.

So, dreunc1542, is your friend hotter than Neve Campbell?

If so, I, too, will watch.

If you think Neve Campbell's hot, you should see her movie nude scene.

You may never think that way again. ;)

That was no nude scene. "When Will I Be Loved."

Let's blame CSI for some of the twisted shit we see in real life now. Seriously that show pushes the card on decent television.

He's a guy, but he'll apparently be playing a transgender person, so maybe he's hot as woman.

OK, I watched it. I'm not sure what's noteworthy about it. Kind of boring.
