Unfairly maligned TV shows and movies

No what it is, I think, is the bastard child of "Sports Night" and "Studio 60." Or maybe it's Studio 60 2.0.

And I think you could make a case for "Studio 60" as unfairly maligned. I liked parts of it, those about the creative process, quite a bit.
In this sense, "The Cold Open" was a delight.
The whole enterprise got off track, I think, when Amanda Peet got pregnant (in real life) at the start.

    "Blue Chips"
promoted as "came see Shaq dunk in a movie and act like an idiot" I think a lot of people judged it by that when it was really something quite different and I liked it for what it was.

One of my great guilty pleasures. I can watch that movie any day.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs is one of the top three TV characters of my lifetime.

NCIS was hit or miss in the early/Sasha years, started getting better when Cote de Pablo joined the cast and developed the Tony/Mossad storylines, was at the top of its game in 2007-08-09. It hit a lull for the last year or two, but this season has been very good again.

Seasons 5-7 of The West Wing. No, they weren't as good as during the Sorkin years but they still were better than almost anything else being offered. I think that's because, for the most part, regular viewers by then were well invested in the characters and the fine actors who portrayed them. And, although it lacked the gimmics of "Newhart" or "Saint Elsewhere," that TWW series finale was, to me, pitch perfect.

Ditto. Even though (or maybe because) Matt Nover can't act his way out of a paper bag.

Yeah, that Steven Spielberg who puts out fluffy shit like Schindler's List and Munich.

    Entourage.

The first three seasons, through the whole Aquaman storyline, are great. The rest of it, while not as good as it could have been, was still decent. Better than a lot of the shit people here have mentioned.

Worst part was the ending. Way too pat. Otherwise, I pretty much agree.

Ugh. Hate just about every actor on that show.

    - The one dude - who got the job because mommy (or is it daddy?) is a bigwig on the show, talks like he's got crap in his mouth
    - They have a Chilean actress playing an Israeli
    - Nerdy computer chick may as well wear a sign that says "Hey! I'm quirky computer nerd chick! Something amusing is about to happen!"
    - Mark Harmon is a badass, but Worth Winning is still the highlight of his film career
    - Michael Weatherly was 30 or so when he was on Dark Angel and dating 19-year-old Jessica Alba. OK, no stone to throw here.

I really like Spielberg, but his movies mostly are big and not particularly deep. There's nothing wrong with that. I love ET and Jurassic Park and Jaws. He mastered the blockbuster. But he's not Stanley Kubrick.

Still haven't seen the last season, but I am aware of how it ended.
