Health insurance is problem No. 2.

    THAT is problem No. 1.

IVIG infusions are incredibly difficult to procure.

I was at CVS yesterday picking up a prescription. I will admit with insurance, I get them very reasonable. I get 90 day supplies of blood pressure meds for $7 and the same amount of cholesterol meds for $0. Yeah, that's correct.
I have no idea what the lady in front of me was getting, but she literally said to the pharmacists, "I'm not paying that. I guess I'll just die." and she walked away.

I used to pay 51 cents for 90 days of BP medicine with Aetna. Then 89 cents. Then changed to BCBS insurance and paid $25. Still have BCBS, but I now have Livinti for prescription meds. Now it costs $0.

My health insurance is $32/month. It's the only reason I haven't retired yet.

I got fired three weeks ago and was told my insurance was terminating at the end of the day.

There are four different doctors I’m supposed to see on a somewhat regular basis, and that’s after cutting out my gastro to afford the other four even back when I had insurance. So far I’ve already had to tell one I can’t continue. I had a telehealth appointment already scheduled with my psychiatrist that same day or else I’d have had to blow him off too.

(I tried explaining to him that I needed a plan to titrate down my meds in order to have as smooth a landing as possible until I can get another job. He was thoroughly unimpressed with my impeccable bipolar II logic, wrote me a 90-day supply for everything and pushed my next appointment out until February to give me time.)

Anyway, I’ve had to start piecing together GoodRX discounts to make all this work. I don’t know how it works and I imagine behind the scenes they’re whoring out my data like I was a lot lizard. But it actually does help make stuff affordable so far. Can’t always use “my” pharmacy but you do what you’ve gotta do.

They still haven't caught the guy and all, but I keep mulling over in my head that should they catch him are we going to see another Bernie Goetz situation where a jury essentially refuses to convict.

I was actually thinking about this in the car today.

Maybe, and hear me out on this, they're not trying all that hard to find him.

Lord knows police know how to slow roll or no roll a search.

Ask any black family that's been missing a son or daughter.

I am guessing this guy was a hired gun for someone with a huge beef against UHC.

If they ever find out who paid for this assassination, would that person be convicted? Good question.

The average cop on the beat may loathe the guy, but he had way too much juice for this to be ignored. Everyone is getting their asses crawled from the commissioner down to third shift dispatch. Any hint that NYPD is slow walking this and the state and feds will take the wheel.

There may be some cops with grudges against health insurers, but there are probably more who really don't like the idea of random assassins getting away with murder in broad daylight, so I have a hard time believing they're consciously ignoring this.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina removed its leadership page from its website in the last 24 hours. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Actually it could be a coincidence as they're losing their largest employer/client this month with the state moving its employees to Aetna, and so there's almost certainly some big changes coming for BCBSNC. But still.
