Oh, they KNOW why. That is why they are bulking up on security. And judging from the turmoil this week in Korea and France, I think we're in for several years of weirdness. Late 60s, early '70s types of "direct action" stuff all over the world. Mainly due to people no longer having faith OR trust in their national institutions anymore.

People get a taste for fucking up those in power. And then the ones who use that to climb to the top are then astonished to learn those people now want to fuck them up too.

It does seem crazy that they haven't at least identified the shooter yet, based on the video and still-frame evidence, a couple fingerprints, a burner phone that he was videotaped using and which has been found, and a water bottle and protein-bar wrappers thought to be purchased by the gunman that were retrieved from the trash.

Apparently, the fingerprints were smudged, making them somewhat poor specimen, and police are having trouble breaking into the burner phone, which, I read someplace today, could potentially lead to all kinds of useful information/evidence.

Here's a general story on the progress of the case, or lack thereof, from Axios:

Aren't we already in that period?

Being an '80s kid is great except for the part where we have no reference point except for RIGHT NOW for shit burning around us.

Growing up in the Bay Area in the 70s we had Patty Hearst and the SLA, the Black Panthers and Hells Angels, Jonestown, Tear gas being used at Berkeley regularly, Moscone-Milk Murders, the Zodiac murders, the Zebra murders, Alcatraz being occupied - good thing our sports teams were good to distract us.

I'd be surprised if we don't see a return of eco-terrorism around the world linked to global warming. The targeting of the uber-rich and their various enclaves and get-togethers.

I've said it before, but I'll bet the wars about water will be desperately vicious.

Disagree with those who say the way not to get caught is to act calmly - if that's in relation to the immediate seconds and minutes after such an act. As I recall, the Boston Marathon bombers stood out conspicuously because they were so calm after the explosion (explosions?) while all around them were losing their minds.

It's so much about acting calmly. It's about blending in with your surroundings. The bombing scene was chaotic from the explosions and noise. Everyone was panicked, so a calm person would have stood out. I guarantee you that immediately following this lone shooting, the people just across the street or next block down had no idea what had happened and were just walking along minding their own business.

The time and location of an investor presentation isn’t exactly classified information. You would have to know where he was staying (and that it wasn’t at the same hotel) and that he would be walking into the meeting. That’s a little harder to know.

Trump is jealous he didn’t get to shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue.

All the speculation is that the killer was an enraged customer or relative of one of United Healthcare. But what it he's a disgruntled employee? That might be someone who'd know where the CEO usually stayed when in NYC, or even where the company had a hotel deal.

I’m still not sure the hitman acted alone.
