UnitedHealthcare CEO shot and killed in NYC

CEO showed up early to prep for a meeting. Shooter was waiting, some said he'd been there milling around for a while. Totally obscured (hoodie, gloves) and his pistol had a suppressor. Black clothing and gray backpack, like a bajillion other people up there.

I know it's not a fave here but the NY Post has a video of the shooting. The actual event. The shooter was calm, thorough and made zero effort to hide or run until after it was done.

Strangely, he kept racking the slide on the gun, as if it was jamming. Perhaps the suppressor was causing issues.

 

Or jilted romantic partner or jealous spouse of one?

 

It might be the circles I follow, but I haven't seen a lot of sympathy in the socials. Lots of creative comments, though.

Capitalism, health care situations, crap insurance companies. Not calling for CEOs to get whacked or anything, but this is kind of the place we're at, no? At least the sympathy.

 

Back in the spring the company had to pay a $22 million crypto ransom after getting locked out of their data. Maybe some kind of follow up to that went wrong?

Almost seems like a Law & Order episode where Johnny's beloved hero veteran grandpa is denied coverage, ends up in a coma or dies, Johnny starts stalking, "I'm just in town to see the sights," all the things.

 

A roving gang of thugs, a blackmailer, an angry husband, a gay lover...

 

More than a million people died of COVID. It's pretty well known who was substantially responsible for that.

I completely don't get it.

It's like fragging your LT in Vietnam. Another LT plops down in his place just like another CEO will plop down in this poor soul's place.

This dude will get caught and I hope he gets assigned wiping geriatric Son of Sam's butt in Shawangunk. (Close enough to Shawshank)

 

Someone will have to rat on the shooter. Unless they're somehow able to track him from the hotel to the park, via all of NYC's cameras, and then hone in, he'll probably be tough to find

 

The NY Post has a story that the shooter got Starbucks before the hit. They have surveillance photo of him where you can see his eyes - but he's wearing a Buff or balaclava that covers his nose and mouth (tough to drink a coffee that way!).

NYP also has a video of the shooting. The guy fires once and then has to pull the slide after every shot after that, like it was jamming or something. Very calm and measured in his actions. No panic about having just shot a guy in public.

 

I finally saw the video. If that's not a professional hit, then TV and movies have lied to me all these years.

It seems like there might be enough physical evidence with the images and bike to have a successful investigation. And, as we all know, follow the money (assuming it was a pro hitter).

But, as has been mentioned, the list of suspects who would want this done is likely expansive considering his job.
