From my first glance at the article, the quotes didn’t match the hed. More like they were slamming the author, which is in bounds.

The good news is I'm sure this is a one-time event that won't be repeated by the finest newspaper in the land.

Unless he ordered direct from the brand site, I don’t know how PD would know who bought a pack. They are sold at REI and just about every high-end photography shop.

Maybe he liked it because it was on sale? Once it leaves the plant, the company doesn't have a hell of a lot of control over who buys their stuff. But in today's sue first, ask questions later society, someone's drawing up papers ...

Looks like you can register your backpack on their website after you buy it.

Of course they didn't say "we're not running this bullshit." They knew how many outrage eyeballs it would draw. And how many comments it would generate before they had to shut down the commenting. But my God what a disingenuous tone deaf load of shit that op-ed was. That fucking twat deserves every bit of scorn and contempt that comes his way.

It's merky the actual involvement the backpack CEO had, and he made a statement yesterday that he didn't rat. But it's pretty clear he did something, even if it was to let the cops know it was one of their bags but they couldn't figure out who it was.

They are getting absolutely roasted online and have turned off most comments. He said they don't give up information, but the damage seems to be done.

They obviously aren't a huge company but this could really hurt them. It's a smaller level than mega health care for sure, but probably another example of corporations and businesses should probably think of the littler guy sometimes.

You might think this killing and its aftermath would let health insurance companies and their leaders know how deeply the public despises them — when even a backpack company official and McDonald’s employee are catching heat for helping police catch a cold-blooded killer.

But if I know right-wing America circa 2024 like I think I do, there won’t be any day of reckoning among insurance company executives. They’ll just double down on coverage denials, prescription drug prices and premium costs.

“You thought you hated us before? Wait until 2025!”

I don't think regulation from the Trump administration is the kind of reckoning health care execs are worried about at this point.

Y'all should blame Abercombie & Fitch for some of the ugly women I slept with in the '90s. It was their fault. My personal actions and decisions had nothing to do with it. Go riot and tear down a couple Bennigan's.

Ah, Bennigan’s … the Buffalo Wild Wings of the 1990s. Everything but the annoying talking buffalo mascot.
