so, the Beaudry guy -- a giant of a man I'm told -- was not offered the job.
    Shocking.

Kendall would do a great job, but he does have a lot on his plate right now. Shame because I would have liked seeing him around more often.

"Dude" as in a Georgia beat writer.

This is the best jobs thread ever.

Has all the key elements: Mizzou pimping someone who doesn't want the job, then being days late with that revelation; rampant misinformation; at least one Beaudry reference; a Kyle Veasey reference, a cursory "I'm not _____.", which was Ian R. in this case; my official realization that every beat writer in the SEC has an SportsJournalists.com handle.

    Thanks for the memories.

    p.s.: Who's getting the job?

I've been told that Ian Rapoport of The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., has accepted the job.

Congrats to Ian. He'll do a great job.

Ian's worked very hard in Starkvegas.

    He'll do a great job in T-Town.

Apparently me trying to break this story before all the details were ironed out did no permanent harm.

    Good for Ian.
    Good for the News.
Not so good for the C-L and one of our favorite posting SEs, Rusty Hampton, who has to find a new beat writer for one of his primary beats just three weeks before the season opener.
Guess we need to start a new thread for the Starkpatch job, huh?
