When was anyone talking about pro jobs in reference to this job? I must have missed that.

Brian does a lot more than just cover the AAA Bats. He's covered one (or two?) Olympics, took over Forde's college football notebook and has written a lot about other college sports.

Since this job was brought up in the Memphis thread, anybody heard anything concrete on this? Has this been filled yet?

11 pages of smart ass wisdom....and now this! Dry spell in the Mojave desert. Bet this one got filled internally.

  5. Very likely on the above post. Which means the Bats/G.A. beat or the IU beat will open up.

Look. I know the SE there. Combined with the Gannett factor, he won't hire anyone outside of driving distance for an interview. No way in hell. Don't you ever expect they'll hire you if you're west of say, the Mississippi River or north of Pennsylvania. If there's no talent within that area, they'll probably kill the job.

Trust me. Don't waste your time with anything from this paper.

Austin -- you said don't waste your time.
Louisville -- you said don't waste your time.

Man, you make this much easier. And just for the record, I have a feeling the last time they filled this gig, he didn't drive up for the interview.

I know there's a guy in Champaign who might be interested in this job, but I have no idea if he applied for it. Any new news on the position?

Actually, that person could do some seriously great work in this job if he gets it. I don't know for sure if he's applied, however.
