LeBatard was really good talking about this whole situation this morning on Mike & Mike.

When it comes to Castro, what is odd is that in the past 20 or so years the world has taken a live and let live approach, yet have come down hard on other tyrants.

How has Castro remained in power so long without the world coming down on him?

How many members of the New York Congressional delegation would have to be suspended if they were held to the same standard as a baseball manager?

Peter Angelos to be retroactively suspended five games for visiting with Castro in 1999:

You could ask the same question of the junta that controls Burma.

That's Selig on the other side of him, right?

The crowd in the room sounded quite restless when he tried his "lost in translation" excuse.

"Because he had a good idea and just went a little too far," said Ozzie Guillen.

Yeah, that's the '95 Orioles game in Havana. I was sitting a few rows in back of them.

There seems to be some question out there about whether MLB should suspend him, as well. That seems crazy to me. He's the Marlins' employee, so it seems well within their interest to monitor his public comments. But an MLB suspension sends a message to all of baseball that some political viewpoints are acceptable and others are not. It's one thing when John Rocker makes slurs against minorities and other discriminated against groups. Or when Marge Schott praises Hitler. To me that's quite different from resurrecting the Red Scare. I think that Castro's been bad for Cuba. But I'm not sure he's in the pantheon of heads of state - Hitler, Mussolini, Hussein, Stalin - who shall not be named.

My God, where are we going with all this whiny shit.

He is suspended for what? Oh that's right because MLB and the Marlins are pandering to the whiny asshole crowd because they are afraid of losing ticket sales.

This is yet another example of what is wrong with this country - we now get more worked up and outraged about things people say than what people do
