It would certainly be the biggest win in WMU history.

I'm pretty sure Michigan has never, ever lost to an in-state MAC school (I'm almost certain laying the turd against Toledo last year was their first MAC loss ever -- they haven't been playing MAC teams that long).

DickRod loses to WMU, and it's the Siege of the Bastille. With highly-rated (albeit wildly-overrated) Notre Dame coming in next week.

Yeah, Toledo was the first. They are now 24-1.

Interesting that the Freep sent Rosenberg to the Michigan State game. Wonder if they were afraid for his safety? You know, he is an awful person for doing his job, or at least to those who drink the maize and blue Kool-Aid.

That is very interesting because the Freep has been neglecting MSU coverage for years.

I might have done the same thing. Fans couldn't care less whether he was doing his job or not, so, yes, it can be assumed that he might have been in some sort of danger.

    How do you figure?

I will say this, lest everyone at the school be mistaken for the sporting equivalent of a wingnut - my fellow graduate students have been really level-headed in discussing the situation. But that might be because I would happen to gravitate toward the kind of friends who would be level-headed about it.

Apparently, sports front page coverage (which pretty much alternates between Michigan and MSU) isn't enough.

Ann Arbor is 25 miles from downtown Detroit. East Lansing is 85 miles.

The fan (and readership) base in metro Detroit (in fact, across the whole state with a couple of isolated exceptions) skews heavily to Michigan. All other factors being equal, U-M should get predominantly more coverage in Detroit outlets.

All factors are NOT equal: MSU has been utterly mediocre for a decade, actually for 35 of the last 40 years, while U-M has been a perennial Rose Bowl contender and an occasional factor in the BCS.

If anything, the Detroit media goes way overboard to be "fair" to Sparty, to the point of underserving the majority of its readership.

I don't know as they actually feared for his safety, but they didn't want him to become the story. He was at RichRod's press conference the day after the story broke, so it isn't like he's ducking anything.
