I agree a lot with Ragu's last two posts, but look how well that firsthand account turned out in Ferguson in August 2014. Hands were up! Was shot in the back!

Maybe the consequences from all that went downhill after that is what inspires YF.

Else, we've learned nothing from recent history.

How do we get most of the general public to grasp what Ragu says - that things have to be taken with a grain of salt as more details emerge?

I hope they find it soon.

We just had a week of stories about "fake news" where the take away was that the public can't discern between what is real and what is fake.

Legitimate news sources touted their editorial process as crucial in filtering the news for consumers.

And, then they went out and reported whatever someone was willing to tell them as news.

Do we have a fake news thread? It might be time...

You got us. The media sucks. All of it. I wouldn't consume any more if I were you.

I don't understand your overreaction to my comments.

Football coaches and high school referees get ripped here worse than I've ripped the media.

Why is questioning the media out of line?

We demand other professionals get fired when they do their jobs poorly.

Meanwhile, reporters move on like nothing happened.

YF there's a difference between live reporting and constructing a story. Things evolve.

Go complain to the journalists who have offended you then.

If I have a complaint about the guy who repaired my coffee machine and I call him at work, that's fair. If I go to a bar where a bunch of repair guys hang out (although probably not the one I'm mad at) and bitch about coffee machine repairs, that's bullshit.

Wait, the problem is that this is supposed to be a safe space for journalists?
