Pretty much anyone who makes a purposefully cheezy Black Friday sale needs to get the Tessio treatment.

OH MY GOD YES. Someone stab whomever made that ad.

Also, the Honda ads with Michael Bolton...shoot me now.

How do you feel about his Starburst commercial?

Fogerty's CCR songs being whored out to every toilet paper, suppository and adult-diaper company for commercials is actually the fallout of the bitter breakup legal battle between John Fogerty and "the other three," including his late brother Tom, who wanted to 'exploit' the songs to a much greater extent than he did.

"The other three" of course were represented by Saul Zaentz and Fantasy Records, who let's say had a highly acute interest in wringing every nickel he possibly could out of the carcass of the band. As a result for the last 30 years CCR songs have been sold off pretty much to anybody who would pay ten bucks to use them.

Interestingly, Wrangler supposedly quit using 'Fortunate Son' for jeans ads after John Fogerty was publicly quoted as being unhappy with the use of the song. They didn't legally have to, but they figured the bad publicity wasn't really worth it.

Two commercials that make 20-somethings sound like douchebags (I'm a 40-something):

    1. The Cadillac commercial - "That's mine, KYLE." So, so, petty. And, how can someone so young afford a Caddy SUV? Did mommy and daddy buy it for you? Is is really "mine?"

    2. The Wal-Mart (or Walmart or whatever the bleep they're calling it) ad about how great the company is to its employees. There's a young lady on a treadmill that says Wal-Mart/Walmart matches charitable contributions - then turns her head and says "REALLY." Such a 20-something ego trip, that one word. Take that word out and the ad is so much better, whether you like Wal-Mart/Walmart or not (another pet peeve: the AP stylebook says "Wal-Mart." The store signs say "Walmart." So, what is it?)

And, I think the Chick-Fil-A ads on the college football telecasts are cool. Too bad there are no Chick-Fil-A restaurants anywhere near me.

The company is Wal-Mart. If it's a story about policies, it's Wal-Mart. Stores are Walmart. "I heard Wal-Mart stock is tanking, but I'm going to Walmart today anyway."

I wish I had so much money that when I saw a car that was more luxurious than mine, I could simply toss my keys in a Salvation Army bucket and go get an Audi.

  8. The Bud Light commercial with the Denver guy going back down to the basement. Saw it no less than a dozen times during the 1 p.m. football games today.

    E-fucking-nuff.

The endless car commercials at this time of year have this non-driver asking, Do people really buy cars during the holiday season? Are the deals that much better than at other times of the year?

That one and the "Do you know where your beer is made?"
Yeah, I know for 100% sure where it's made...in my kitchen!

Yes. Car dealerships have to pay tax on every car still sitting on the lot Jan. 1, so they mark down cars like CRAZY during the holidays, trying to get them sold. I bought my car on Christmas Eve and basically paid $500 over sticker price for it. My parents got a similar deal a few years before that (at the same lot, where we knew the owner, which helps a lot). So they do push cars and give fairly good deals on cars this time of year.

The Walmart Cyber Monday spot with the lady and the guy in the office pretending to work. The lady celebrates finding a deal and says "Found my stapler" or something like that and cheers.

Saw it seven or eight times during a movie I was watching last night, including twice in the same 5-minute commercial break.
