But the follow-ups could be brilliant.

"Do you *really* mean it this time, Nick?"

If it's going to be a "Meyer" guy, then it's got to be Mullen, right?

Whoever takes this job is almost certain to fail. This is worse than taking over after Spurrier.

    What about Whittingham?

So, go get Ron Zook back for a couple of years so the 'real' next guy can come in with the pressure off?

It depends what Mullen's contract says if the Florida job should ever be open. Would Starkvegas let him walk after one year?

Strong hasn't signed his contract yet with Louisville.

Dan McCarney, formerly of Iowa State, is on Meyer's staff. He's likely not to get it.

    That was my exact thought.

Exactly. Thanks for picking up on that mb.
Mullen, who really made Tebow into a Heisman Trophy winner, would be a good fit but the people in Starkville love him. They'll fight, as best as they can, to keep him.

What if it is Spurrier? [/notsureofwhatoutclauseshehasatusc]

Saban doesn't need Florida. He can get the same type of athletes at 'Bama.

The one currently at South Carolina who seems not to give a shit? I don't think Part II would work out as well. Plus, why would Spurrier want to deal with the comparisons? I'm sure he'd rather not hear on a regular basis how Meyer won twice as many titles as he did at Florida.
