Another thought: Foley convinced Meyer to do this in order to hold on to nervous committed recruits.

Another thought: He finally met his family.

So he's taking a leave of absence for next season, but will return in 2011.

Some guys will do anything not to have to play Lane Kiffin's Vols on Rocky Top!

Guess 20 hours away from the game to be with his family felt like 20 years. Enough of that, Urban said, I'd rather coach football, headaches or no headaches. Probably can't seem to sort the whites from the colors in the laundry room.

    What a dope.

So he's going the Krzyzewski route?

CBS just said an indefinite leave of absence.

Maybe he was just trying to one up Billy Donovan.

Fish last longer out of water than a coach does stepping away from Florida.

I doubt that it is a ploy to help recruiting, or ticket sales to the Sugar, but you'd think Meyer and the AD and the school prez would have hashed it out a bit more before going public with the thing. Have him sit on the decision for a while.
Having Meyer as a maybe is probably worse for the Gators than having a definite no. College recruiting is like sharks in the water. A small trickle of blood soon becomes a gaping wound.

    Fantastic.

Can't be said enough: Nobody brings the dark humor to these threads better than mb.

It's not a ploy to help recruiting. It's a ploy to save recruiting. The media are making it sound like UF's incoming class was about to defect en masse.
