I just want to thank the good Lord for allowing me to give 110% and help the team any way I can.

How about when the latter is said a day or two before the coach bolts, thereby proving he was interviewing for the new job even as he said he planned on remaining at Location A?

For the record, I don't really get all that jazzed up about job jumping or lying about it. It's what these guys do. But when you drop the "family considerations" excuse, and then jump right back to the gig 24 hours later, well, you get what you deserve.

Why, so people like us can parse the words and incite panic and extra drama? Look, I agree that plenty of coaches are lying, manipulating bullshitters. But they're also human, and none of them are going to want extra drama and bullshit and all the complications that can ensue.

I learned myself, don't say shit to anyone who could even possibly say something that would come back to bite you about ever getting another job until you have the new one locked up.

That's a terrible haiku. You can do better then that.

(I hereby apologize for perpetuating an unfunny meme. But I owed someone something after I mocked Hofstra football elsewhere. Carry on.)

Hofstra doesn't have a football team, does it?

If it did, Urban Meyer would be a fine candidate to coach it.

I can't believe this thread is still going.

Do you guys calling Meyer a liar actually believe that he made up the story about quitting, fully intent on coming back the next day? What possible motivation could he have for fabricating a story about quitting? What did he get out of that? He wanted to read some nice columns about himself in the papers, and once he read them, he said "Ha ha, I'm not quitting!"?

(For the record, if you look way back at my earlier contribution to this thread, I said I figured Meyer was quitting to avoid some sort of scandal, and the health thing was a cover-up. Once he came back, it didn't make sense any more for the health story to be a lie.)

As for the thing about coaches seeking jobs, it's a crappy spot to be put in, but I think most people understand that's the way the business is. If the fans in Utah really believed that Meyer would choose to stay there rather than go to Florida ... c'mon.
