Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post picked up as an NFL writer. She'll remain based in Denver.

This is all just reminding me of the previous debate about Dunne's decisions. It was the Sun Sentinel and a text message, right?

No. Sun Sentinel yes, but see Tim Stephens' post here: http://www.sportsjournalists.com/forum/posts/3070954/ (it's on page 6; I don't know to pull the quote.)

In part: "Tyler Dunne ... did not notify me via text. It was via e-mail. I was not offended ..."

The rumor is that they've made two of the three NFL hires.

So has anyone noticed that USA Today keeps posting NFL writer jobs? On Twitter I saw someone who listed his job description as covering the Redskins and Ravens for USA Today. Is there any sense that the new regime over there might double down on what ESPN.com did with its divisional bloggers and have, maybe, one reporter for every two teams in the league?

I doubt it. Never the ESPN model, I doubt they would even go the CBS Sports model where they're paid freelance money for the NFL season only.

It's Gannett. They have GA writers based in certain areas that do mostly game coverage, but those aren't the people who are getting these jobs.

No question... One of the best NBA guys around.

    Good for Sam.
Was he full-time, contract or freelance at SI.com?
Is that place likely to replace him or more likely to welcome shrinkage by attrition? Seem to recall cuts happening (or due to happen) there.

Apparently Pablo S. Torre also left SI but went to ESPN. Don't know if that's been on here.
