    I know this has nothing to do with headlines, but I really liked Paul Doyle's intro to his article on the USA-Algeria match for The Guardian:

    "Bill Clinton was at this game, probably reflecting for 92 minutes that he scored more often than this lot. The USA won the match and Group C in the most dramatic circumstances possible, Landon Donovan's goal relegating England to second place just when they thought they had secured the top spot."

    Our A-1 headline online was, "As U.S. advances in World Cup, <local town> watches." I don't even see a straight gamer on our site, except the update I posted right after the match ended yesterday. Argh.
